Barbara Hall was born July 17, 1960, in Danville, VA. She is the daughter of Ervis Harvard (a company manager) and Florine Hardie (a homemaker) Hall. In December 1985 she married Nick Harding (a writer), and they had a daughter. Hall received a B.A. in 1982 from James Madison University.
